“A fabric my mother saved for 45 years… just for me.”

It wasn’t just a cloth. It held memories, care and intention. That’s when I realised—fabric can hold love. Years later, when I worked with weaving units across India, I saw artisans pouring the same love into their work but with no recognition and stability. That’s when Unallume was born.

From a daughter’s inheritance… and a designer’s purpose. To create clothes that carry stories and bring dignity to the hands that make them. That cloth she saved, became my reminder of why I started. That’s what I want every Unallume piece to feel like—Something that holds meaning. For me, this brand isn’t business. It’s a bond—with memory, with makers, with meaning.

A Vision Woven with Purpose

Nisha Bagla, the founder of Unallume, is a dynamic entrepreneur whose journey is as intricate and beautiful as the textiles she passionately promotes. Born and raised in a small town in Bihar, Nisha’s early life was shaped by her parents’ unwavering dedication to providing her with the best education despite financial challenges. The lessons they imparted—about the value of hard work, perseverance, and financial discipline—became the foundation for Nisha’s remarkable career. Her parents always emphasized the importance of living with integrity and purpose, and it is these principles that Nisha carries with her as she builds her business and empowers others.

Nisha’s academic journey took her from Mayo College, Ajmer to NIFT, and later to Istituto Marangoni in Milan, where she earned her Master’s in Surface and Textile Design.

A lover of art, culture, and fashion, Nisha traveled extensively across Europe, where she gained a global perspective on design. This fusion of Western innovation and Eastern craftsmanship eventually led to the creation of Unallume, a brand that bridges the gap between India’s rich textile heritage and modern luxury fashion.

Unallume is more than just a luxury label—it is Nisha’s vision of reviving traditional handloom craftsmanship while promoting sustainability. Each piece is a reflection of her commitment to preserving cultural heritage and empowering the artisans who create them.

“Blending local heritage with global relevance”

– has become the key aspect of her design approach.
